Axes & Maces & Mixed (Class XV)
About this product
About this collection
This collection covers 22 objects catalogued under Class XV, delivered across 105 images in 16 ZIP assets. Class XV is a mixed classification capturing impact weapons associated with other categories — composite pieces, objects at the boundary of multiple weapon traditions, and associated equipment that illuminates how axes and maces were used and carried.
Why it matters
The mixed-class nature of Class XV reflects the practical reality that weapons don't always fit neatly into single categories — a weapon that combines axe and mace functions, or that is associated with equipment from multiple categories, provides important evidence about how medieval and Renaissance warriors equipped themselves.
